Hi! I’m Lisa, and this is my website. Let me tell you how Dream Catcher Crochet came into being. About five years ago, my wonderful mother-in-law taught me to crochet, and I have been hooked (pun intended) ever since. I began by crocheting gifts for birthdays, Christmas, showers and weddings. In 2016, I did my first craft show where I sold some of my creations. It was the Adam O. Smith Memorial Craft Show.
In 2010, my cousin Adam, a Navy Seal, was killed in a helicopter crash while on a mission in Afghanistan. My family set up a memorial fund that provides a scholarship, supports veteran’s organizations, and assists in community projects in our home town all in Adam’s memory. In 2016 we sponsored the 1st Annual Adam O. Smith Memorial Craft Show over Veteran’s Day weekend with proceeds from booth rental, raffles, and food sales going to the fund.
I struggled to find just the right name for my handmade crochet business, and I chose “Dream Catcher Crochet” after reading this quote from Chief Seattle:
“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.”
Thanks to Adam, the threads in our family web are more strongly connected than ever. A percentage of each sale will go to the Adam O. Smith Memorial Fund. I hope you’ll help me honor Adam’s memory by purchasing one of my creations.
Blessings,
Lisa
